How much ammo does the average soldier carry and how much shells does the average tank carry today?

How much ammo does the average soldier carry and how much shells does the average tank carry today (Not world war 2 or vietnam, modern times)? What is the estimated weight of the gear soldiers carry now? Thank you! Its for my history project.|||I carried 10 mags, loaded with 28rds each, plus one mag in the gun for a total of 308rds. I carried 2 M-67 frags. Front and rear SAPI plates weigh 14lbs together. Side SAPI's 4lbs a piece for a total of 8lbs. Give or take. Interceptor vest weighed like 7lbs. 2liters of water, and a Kbar. That was my combat load. I don't know the weight of the PRC-119, but if its the non-Foxtot, its heavy, you might want to wikipedia that, as somebody in the squad always had to haul a radio around.

SAW gunners usually had about 1000rds+ and 2frags. Being blessed to carry the M-249 SAW adds quite a bit to the load. More ammo, A-barrel(second barrel for changes). The weapons system is like 26lbs if I remember correctly. When I carried the 203 grenade launcher attached to my M-16, it added like 2lbs or so to the rifle. I was a team leader so I had to carry an assortment of 40mm grenades. 5 or so HE or HEDP (high explosive and High explosive dual purpose), some smoke marking rds and flares as well. We always brought NVG's as well, as sometimes we wouldn't know when we'd get back to the FOB(foreward opperating base) sometimes a mission would be 4hrs, sometimes 4days. Usually we'd also have 2 field stripped (throw away the crap you won't eat) MRE's. Also an IFAK (Individual First Aid kit). PEQ-2 laser aiming device as a weapon attachment. ACOG. Shurefire. Gerber multi-tool.|||The "Basic Load" for a modern Riflemen is 7x30 round mags for a total of 210 rounds of 5.56 Ammo.

Below is a link that will have more info then you ever wanted to know on what a Soldier carry's today.

Do an internet search for M1A1 Load or Basic Load for the amount of ammo they carry. I think it's like 40 main gun rounds and a few thousand MG rounds.|||The average soldier typically carries 210 rounds of 5.56mm

The weight of a tank round weighs around 50 lbs.

The M-1A1 and newer models carry 40 120mm rounds. 1200 .50 caliber rounds and about 15,000 5.56mm rounds.|||The perfect plan says each carries one more piece of ammo than is needed to come back alive.
