What was the average equipment for an English soldier in the Medieval period?

I have studied the period for a while now but never quite heard consistent reports on how well armed the average infantryman was. If you could show weapons, armor and eqiupment for the average longbow man and infantryman it would be appreciated.|||There is no consistency because there was no standing army men-at-arms (frequently professional soldiers) were provided by noblemen as part of their oath of allegiance to the king under the feudal system. The knight also had to provide weapons and armour which is costly, so the richer nobleman could afford to kit his men in full chainmail, shields and steel helmets, arm them with swords and all the other sidearms, the really rich could afford to mount some troops with plate armour, archers were also provided through the noblemen, apart from the obvious bows they were armed with weapons for individual protection (seaxes, clubs, mauls, hammers and morningstars) and with a method of finishing off wounded soldiers and knights (often daggers known as mercygivers).

Medieval weapons and armour were not cheap nor could anyone pick up a weapon and use it effectively 鈥?swords for example require strength and technique to use, a longbow was impossible to use without years of practice and use, the extraordinary strength required to pull a longbow was only acquired by constant use of the weapon. Armour for archers was rarely anything more than leather as it would restrict movement.|||Average longbow man--longbow and some form of arrows, probably leather jerkin, gloves, and some form of hat

infantryman--anything from swords to axes to spears, maybe some kite shields or else round shields; Armour of medieval soldier consists of leather quilted jerkin, chain hood, helmet and gloves. The beginning of 14th century.

But anyway.

They had iron chain mail that covered their head and chest.

They had iron/steel plating on their chest/back, and their legs.

Some of them had full covering helmets.
