How much does an average police patrol unit cost the city?

I am involved in a city project for a Criminal Justice class, and we have to design a theoretical police department for a population of 100,000 people.

We need to know how much a car, patrol officer, and equipment costs a city on average.

We also need to know the average cost to train and pay a patrol officer. And how many patrol units are usually hired, per how many people.

Thank you!|||Ballpark Figures only:

Vehicle: $25000.

Equipment: $6500.

Training for a new officer: $42000.

Annual pay: $53000 (with benefits)

In a community of 100000, you'll need at least 100 officers, 25 communications officers and approximately 25 administrative non-sworn personnel.|||You need to issue a coffee and donut outlet permit for every square mile and a permit for a 7-11 or similar every 2 square miles first. You need to modify all public parks with a rest area for the cops to massage their pistols together.
