What is the average salary for an insurance underwriter?

I work as an insurance underwriter in the Houston, TX area and am curious as to what the average salary is for this position. So if this is your line of work or know someone who is, what is the average salary? The company I work for offers great benefits, paid vacation and PTO-health benefits and 401k but I think i'm getting stiffed on the salary considering my workload and job description. Any info is a big help!|||Call an employment agency, fondly referred to as headhunters. These agents will not only tell you what the going rate is in your area based on your experience but they will also know you who is currently hiring. Most of them work on an employer paid fee basis so you won't have to pay.|||www.salary.com . . . but it's going to matter a way, way, WAY lot, if you work for an agency, or a company; and what LINES of business you underwrite - plus if you have a degree, license, or any professional designations, and how long you've been in business..|||I manage a team of Commercial underwriters all over TX, including two in Houston. Their average base salary is anywhere from $50,000 up to $100,000. It all depends on experience, education, etc. Commercial underwriters typically are paid a little higher than personal lines or life underwriters.
