What is the average lifespan of a human being?

I am quite interested in how long people live, and it so happens that my only surviving grandparent, my mum's mum is 88, 89 in October. What is the average lifespan of a human being, for women, for men and for both averaged out?

Is 88 over the average lifespan? Do a lot of people live to this age?

Thanks.|||Overall: 78.06 years

Male: 75.15 years

Female: 80.97 years

These values are for the U.S., please check the source for other countries. Not many people live to 88 years, and 88 years is well over the average span of 67years for the world.|||That depends on which country you live in. In many countries, high infant mortality rates pull down the average. In some countries, many diseases, for which vaccines are not available, also decreases the average life span by killing children. Polio is a disease that can kill, and its vaccines were rumored to be an American conspiracy against muslims. As a result, a lot of people stopped vaccinating their children and polio outbreaks have occurred in some countries. These outbreaks will eventually lower the average life span of these countries. Other factors that influence life expectancy is the availability of medical help. Infant mortality among the poor even in wealthy countries can be as high as those in 3rd world countries. Smoking, pollution (including carcinogens) and diseases like AIDS also have an effect on average life expectancy. AIDS is ravaging South Africa, and the average life expectancy has dropped in that country because of it.|||it depends not on sex but on food items and healthiness of one's body

sometimes people who are not healthy may not live more than 65 yrs

average u can tell as 75-88yrs

if the people r too healthy then they may even live for upto 95 yrs lik i hav many examples in my family

people who live more than some wat 92 yrs hav many problems lik some may be jus respiring that is they are un concsious its the same if they r dead or alive

some may hav sense organs problem

they may hav many prob

finally an average man wid average health can live 80-85 yrs

all the best!!!!!!bye|||88 is over but it depends on the country, race, and sex. in the us life expectancy at birth as of 2005 is 75 for men and 80 for women...that is of all races...divided by race the expectancy for african americans is slightly lower than whites.|||i think its like 70 or 80, remember that's the average though you can find examples of people living longer, and examples of people living shorter lives.

interesting thing to note, medicine and technology has expanded our average life expectancy by a lot.|||The average globally is currently 64.8 years.|||I'm not sure what the average is, but I know where you live makes a difference.
